NEW ROMNEY BUS RALLY
9th SEPTEMBER 2012
Report and pictures by Jake
This was the second time that I have been to this rally. The last time was in 5137 in 2010 (report can be read here) and the weather wasn't very kind. This year the sun shone and it was perfect. Not as many buses as before but I believe this to be due to the high cost of fuel. The buses are parked in the carpark of the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Light Railway - a well known narrow gauge line that runs from Hythe to Dungeness in Kent. A park and ride is operated from a nearby school which is used as a car parking area, to the railway station, whilst other bus trips out include Folkestone and Dungeness. For vehicle owners free entry to the railway is a bonus too. This year Claire, Paul and me took along Bernard's 3131, on what could be it's last trip out for us before being sold, and Nick and Peter Moore brought 1145.
