Paul has been working flat out on DMS550 in an attempt to fit the engine timing cover and get her ready for the first show at South East Bus Festival on Saturday 2nd April. The cover required some building up with aluminium welding to allow an important pully to be mounted on it. The good news is it's all been fitted and the engine has briefly turned over to show there are no leaks. We had a bit of a worrying moment when a loud metallic rattling was heard but thankfully this turned out to be a missing banjo fitting Paul had earlier lost and was now sitting behind a flywheel! The next stage is to check and recertify MLK550L's rather temperamental fuel system which has suffered from about 20 years of misuse. Also she'll need a proper test before the long journey to Detling too. Wish us luck!
This year it's being held on Saturday 2nd April. The focus is East Kent buses. Although we're hoping to get several long term East Kent buses from our collection on the road this year, we feel that the 90 miles round trip (most of it motorway running) might be a little too much for a maiden voyage so to play it safe we've entered DMS550 and a Metrocab taxi to show the diversity of the collection. Our East Kent buses will debut at a more local show after several more test runs.
Here you will find out the latest news about our buses and future events we hope to attend. In addition we will add any interesting bus and coach related news we come across.
